Stout / Porter
Stouts and porters, while often confused, differ mainly in that stouts use roasted barley, whereas porters do not. Both are rich, dark beers with a wide range of sub-styles. Dry stouts and export stouts gain their flavour from roasted barley and specialty malts, often brewed with oatmeal for a smoother body. These beers can incorporate diverse flavours, including fruits and exotic ingredients, and are sometimes brewed to high or Imperial strength, often aged in used spirit or wine barrels. Stouts and porters allow brewers to showcase their creativity through unique ingredients and flavour profiles.
